Located between Ormara and Gwadar, Pasni is believed to be one of the stopovers for Alexander the Great whilst he travelled across the region. In addition to being the second largest town on the coast after Gwadar, it houses a fish harbor and is a significant fishing town.

Pasni has an airport which is run both commercially and for the Pakistan Air Force. The town also serves as the starting point of the boat ride for those venturing to the fabled Astola Island.
