Gaddani – Quickest Getaway

The entry point into Balochistan, across the Hub River from Karachi

At a distance of just 50 kilometers from Karachi, Gaddani serves as the shortest coastal getaway within Balochistan from the bustling metropolis. The route there takes you across the Hub River, through Hub and onwards to the N25 from which a road connects to Gaddani to the left.

The town itself has a sizeable population relative to other immediate coastal towns. What has made it most famous in the past is its ship-breaking industry. At one point, it served as the second largest ship-breaking yard in the world, serving the purpose of breaking down large, retired sea vessels from across the world. However, that purpose has become less significant over the years and Gaddani is now known more for its views and beaches.

One of the interesting features here is a water spout whereby seawater is pushed up through the gap between two large rocks at a part of the coast. Although the coastal seawater here is affected by the heavy movement of ships over the years and their chemical discharges, the beaches are clean and beautiful.

A ridge overlooking the town and beach also provides a breath-taking, panoramic view of the surroundings and is a popular spot for sitting atop and viewing the sun sink across in the ocean

Gaddani’s beauty is also complemented by a nice sea breeze all year round and a population accustomed to the inflow of visitors regularly, particularly on the weekends.
